He Died for MY Freedom

This Memorial Day we stop to remember those who died for our freedom. We also pray for those who have and are defending our freedom but have not been called to pay that ultimate price.

I served in Vietnam. Not everyone with whom I served returned alive. I thank God my family did not have to face that grief. Many have. Don't just remember your buddy from the service, but also pray for the families who grieve the memory of their lost loved one this holiday.

Those I remember fought for my freedom. My freedom to post this blog. My freedom to worship God openly. My freedom to go where I want. My freedom to meet with anyone I wish. My freedom to enjoy the abundance with which I've been blessed. My freedom to . . . . . .

Yet there is one freedom none of these brave men and women can die for. Only One could do that. It is freedom from sin.

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free." (Gal 5:1) It is the only freedom for which God would send His Son to die. It is the reason He came. Quoting Isaiah Jesus said "He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners." (Lk 4:18). "In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence." (Eph 3:12)

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (Jn 8:36)
