There is a documentary on HBO right now about the stealing and selling of children in China. Everyone should watch it. But don't watch it to condem the people. Watch it to understand the culture and the motivations. Watch it to see what they need. Watch it to ask God what YOU should do.
It breaks my heart.
The stealing of children breaks my heart the most. SEVENTY THOUSAND a year! I can't imagine. The heartache. The pain. The fear in the children. The policeman who quit that job to become a full time searcher for the children is my hero. I pray that God will raise up others like him.
I also pray for the mothers and fathers that can find no other answer for the best interest of the child than to sell them. Extreme poverty. Fines that would starve the whole family. Laws that do not allow them to raise the children they obviously love.
The comments of the trafficer showed his need too. He stated that he knew there must be something wrong with selling children like property but he just couldn't figure out what it was. In his created being he knows it is wrong. I think he was searching for that reason and was hoping to find it to convince his conscious mind to quit. I know what he is looking for--Jesus.
I have been to China several times. The people are just like you and me. They are loving, kind, caring people. That is why I am glad God called me to do what I can for the innocent victims (the children) and to wrap that in an envelope of being a light for Christ to people who desperatly want to find what they are searching for.
Pray for all of them. Be sensitive to God's leading. Then follow that leading!
